Oct. 23 - Day 1 Casablanca (D)

Upon arrival in Casablanca, you will be transferred to your hotel for a rest day.

Oct. 24 - Day 2 Casablanca / Marrakech (B, D)

After breakfast the group will have a tour of the Hassan II mosque, the largest mosque in North Africa.  The tours of the interior are normally scheduled to start at 10:00 am or 11 am.  After the tour you will set off towards Marrakech. Dinner will be served at the hotel. Hotel Magodor Opera

 

Oct. 25 - Day 3                   Marrakech (B, L)

After breakfast, the group will have a guided tour of Marrakech. You will discover the Bahia Palace, the Saadian Tombs, the Menara Basin and many other hidden treasures.  Continue the tour on to the magnificent, Koutoubia Mosque and the famous Djemaa el-Fna, one of the center attractions of Marrakech.  Coming alive at night with the local storytellers, entertainers, and mouth-watering barbeque pits, the square is well worth a visit.  Lunch will be taken on the tour in the medina (Included).  The tour will conclude with an exploration of  the souk (market) lined with fresh fruit, mounds of spices, intricately woven Berber carpets and many other art objects of Morocco.  Dinner will be on your own (Not included). Oct. 26 - Day 4 Marrakech / Day in the Life of a Berber (B, L, D)

After breakfast, the group will set off to a Berber village to enjoy a truly cultural experience…The Day in the Life of a Berber.  The group will learn first hand by collecting water from the well, cooking lunch, brewing Berber mint tea, and sleeping in a Berber house.  Lunch and dinner are included as part of the experience in the Day of the Life of a Berber.

 

Oct. 27 - Day 5                   Day in the Life / Atlas Mountains / Ouarzazate (B, D)

After breakfast you depart for Ouarzazate over the High Atlas Mountains through the Tichka Pass. Keep your eyes open for the Berber villages tucked away in the mountain side.  Once in Ouarzazate, you will tour Aït Benhaddou, one of the world's most magnificent Kasbahs, this setting has been used for more films than any other location in Morocco; films including, Lawrence of Arabia, Jesus of Nazareth, and recently The Gladiator. Dinner will be served at the hotel in Ouarzazate, Hotel Riad Salam.


Oct. 28 - Day 6                   Ouarzazate / Todra Gorges (B, D)

After breakfast, the group will depart for Tingher (Todra Gorges) over the High Atlas Mountains and along the road of 1000 kasbahs.  On route, you will visit the beautiful Kasbahs of Taourirt and Tifoulout, Dades Valley, and stop in Elkalaa of M’Gouna, the city of roses. You will continue through the picturesque Todra River Valley which makes for a beautiful journey towards the final destination for today, the magnificent, colossal Todra Gorges (600 feet). Dinner will be served in the Kenzi Saghro, where you will spend the night.

 

Oct. 29 - Day 7                   Todra / Erfoud OPTIONAL Sahara Desert visit (B, D)

The next destination will be Erfoud, a small town on the edge of the Sahara Desert.  Upon arrival in Erfoud, you will visit the little town, which will provide insight into the desert way of life. 

All what is marked in Blue in this program is With FF Morocco: Meet with hosts, Members of The Association in the process of forming an FF Club.

 * A panel discussion about the south costumes and culture.

 * Visit to Kssar Bouia and a women cooperative: Cafe making from the

seeds of dates.

 Lunch feast with a Berber Mishoui (roasted lamp)

 * Visit to the Fossil factory in Erfoud.

 You will stay the night in Kasbah Xaluca (Dinner will be included)

For those who wish to have an optional visit to the dunes,

SUNSET option, Tour #1 ($35 extra for this excursion): In the afternoon you will travel across the barren desert land in your 4 wheeled drive vehicle (35 minute drive) to Dunes d’Or.  Then you will set off by camel for a 1/2-hour trek out onto the dunes where you will watch the sunset. You will return back by 4x4 to the Kasbah Xaluca in Erfoud for dinner and sleep.

BERBER TENT option, Tour #2 ($60 extra):  After the 35 minute drive and arriving at Dunes D’Or you set off for a 2 hr camel ride into the dunes where you will have dinner and spend the night in the Berber Tents at the Oasis.  In the morning you will return by camel, then 4x4 across the desert to join the rest of the group in Erfoud to continue the tour together.

 

Oct. 30 - Day 8                  Erfoud / Midelt / Azrou (B)

After breakfast, you will begin your ascent across the Middle Atlas Mountains to Azrou.  Lunch will be taken in Midelt. You will spend the afternoon with your host families in Azrou. 

 

Once in Azrou you will meet your host friends. The meeting place will be the elementary school for a visit and then,

* Houses check in, free time, dinner and night with your hosts.

 

Oct. 31 - Day 9 Azrou

This will be a day spent with your host families.

* Morning: meet with some of the local officials and elected persons for a presentation and discussion about the civic engagement in Morocco. The FF Morocco activities as a sample.

* After the meeting, you will head of to the ceder forest: Visit the biggest ceder tree that lived for nine centuries and Monkeys viewing.

You will have a picnic lunch package. (Note: Please, when on the way from Errfoud to Azrou do not stop at the forest because 1st it scheduled with FF club and also we will need time for the school visit. Thank you)

*Afternoon around 5pm:

* Henna ceremony for ladies at lotfi's place.

* Then, back to your hosts for the night.

 

Nov. 1 - Day 10       Azrou / Fes (D)

After an early breakfast with your Azrou FF hosts, drive to Fes.

 

At your convenience, you will finish your time with your host families and drive to Fes, the spiritual capital of Morocco.  In the afternoon, you will have a visit of the Rampart of Fes, the King’s Palace and more.  Dinner will be served in the hotel for the evening. Hotel Barcelo

 

Nov. 2 - Day 11 Fes (B)

After breakfast we will begin our guided tour of the medina, one of the world’s largest walled in cities.  We will explore the narrow streets lined with fresh fruit, mounds of spices, intricately woven Berber carpets and many other art objects of Morocco.  A visit to the spice shop, the tanneries, and potters are just a few places we will experience.  To look down over the ancient tannery and see the men in the colored vats working the leather, is a site you will likely not forget.  You will no doubt be tempted to buy something right there!  For lunch you will be on your own in a traditional restaurant in the heart of the medina. You will then complete the tour and return to the hotel for the evening and dinner. Dinner is served with hosts friendship force host in Fes.  Lodgings are at Hotel Barcelo.

 

* Around 7:00pm: Wedding party: We will Get a couple of the Ambassadors dressed and Re celebrate their weeding party in the Moroccan traditional way.

* Animation by a local Traditional music band

* Dinner, drinks and Moroccan pastries will be served.

 

 Nov. 3 - Day 12      Fes / Volubilis / Meknes / Rabat (B)

After an early breakfast, you will set out in the morning to the ancient Roman ruins of Volubilis.  You will spend the morning exploring the 2000-year-old ruins and getting a picture of life during the Roman Empire.  You may plan to stop in Meknes or Moulay Idris, one of the holiest cities in Morocco.  Your guide will then take you on a tour of the imperial city, Meknes. From Meknes, you will move on to Rabat, the capital city of Morocco and the King’s residence.  You will visit the La Tour Hassan, Mausoleum and King’s Palace. 

 

*In the afternoon, you will have a welcome Lunch Party (All the Ambassadors and hosts). After lunch you will have a panel discussion with the hosts in Salé about the Moroccan Culture (Questions / Answers) and then, meeting with some of the officials of the city.

 *Then, host houses check in and free time with hosts.

*Dinner and night with hosts.

Nov. 4 Day 13                     Rabat HOMESTAY

*This will be a full day with your hosts in Rabat.

 

Nov. 5 Day 14                     Rabat / Casablanca (D)

After breakfast with your host families, you will depart for Casablanca.  You will have some time in the city and a dinner at Rick’s Café.

You are taken to the airport for departure.
